Do not fly Volareweb

On Sunday we arrived at Milan airport for our Volareweb flight back to Manchester only to be told that there was not a flight.  It had been cancelled!  Moreover the airline had ceased all flights to and from Manchester from the 7th Jan.  The airline claims that they tried to inform us via mobile phone and email but there is no evidence of this.  When we departed Manchester on the 6th we were not even told that the return flight had been cancelled!
At Milan airport the Volareweb check-in person was most unhelpful and when we did find out that they had an office in the terminal and went there, the Volareweb official was no where to be found .... I suspect he/she had done a runner in order to avoid us!
So we were stranded .... had to pay for another night's accommodation and struggled to find a way home .... BA was charging £270 each for a flight to Manchester ... so we gave that a miss! We eventually got back flying SAS via Stockholm but it has cost an extra £250.

As it's an italian airline I doubt we will get any compensation. If you are thinking of flying Volareweb then I suggest you think again and take a carrier who is less likely to cancel flights and abandon you!!
